Your Role With Us: Working in the Medical Laboratory at Salem health, Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLT) and Scientists (MLS) are responsible for performing and reporting accurate testing results for our physicians, patients and community partners. Previous experience and strong desire for continuing education in the field will make candidates an ideal fit for our team. Core Functions:Perform laboratory testing accurately and according to specification in policies and procedures.Organize, prioritize, and perform tests and report results within minimum turnaround times.Manage varying workloads without diminished accuracy or loss composure and able to resolve problems efficiently.Perform quality control procedures while adhering to hospital policy.Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).Monitor daily workload, keeping work and testing up to date.Perform and documents routine and emergency maintenance on instruments as required.Understand principles and procedures of department and answers questions with a depth of laboratory knowledge.Participate in continuing education programs to maintain and improve professional skills. Minimum requirement is 12 hours of CEUs per year.Assist with the orientation of new staff. Bachelors of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science preferred - OR - Bachelors degree in a chemical, physical or biologic science with an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology preferred.Participation in a minimum of 12 CEUs per year, required.Requires current registration as MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT) or equivalent corresponding to the area of specialization.Medical laboratory terminology.Excellent communication skills.Medical Technologist (MT) OR MLS certification by ASCP, or equivalent.
