As the Air Quality Inspector, you will conduct inspections of various sources to determine compliance with air quality laws, rules, and regulations to ensure that sources are operating in conformance with legal and permitted requirements. We Require
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, or a related field, with at least 30 semester hours of coursework in natural, physical, or environmental applied sciences Please attach a copy of your unofficial transcripts to your application (failure to do so will result in your application being removed from consideration)

Inspect and investigate dust sources, industrial and commercial air pollution sources, and related control equipment for compliance with air quality rules and regulations, prepare inspection reports and associated documentation Respond to citizen complaints to determine if violations of rules exist Review a variety of facility records, perform air quality tests, and prepare enforcement documents Advise and educate the public and industry about environmental air quality issues, regulations, policies, safety, and compliance Evaluate reporting data to determine the compliance status of facilities/sites Review and comment on proposed permit conditions for applicability and enforceability
Working Conditions
Work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties & responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire Must be certified as a Visible Emissions Evaluator by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality within six months of hire May be required to pass a physical examination This position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation Subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel May be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration Some inspections/observations/complaints require working occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work outdoors during periods of high temperatures, including days when temperatures exceed 110 F
