Fishbeck is seeking a talented Senior Structural Engineer that has an established career in structural engineering and project management. The selected candidate will work on a variety of building, infrastructure, and miscellaneous structure project types for municipal, educational, industrial, and commercial clients. Technical excellence, and a track record of producing thorough and well-coordinated design documents is desired. This position requires self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and commitment to high-quality work.
Primary Functions
- Coordinating with Structural department staff, conceptualize economical structural systems to suit various project types.
- Apply training, experience and knowledge of materials, structural analysis, and structural design to a wide variety of materials such as structural steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry, and could include prestressed concrete and wood/timber systems.
- On occasion, manage project teams of structural staff.
- Assist in developing marketing fees and proposals with other technical staff and potential teaming partners.
- Apply structural design principles to developing excellent quality design drawings and specifications.
- Show competency with standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, and ACI 318.
- Exercise excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Physical Requirements
Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. Will perform duties in the field and will be required to access and maneuver around project sites and use a computer. Capable of traveling to and from projects is required. Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
Desired Education
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering, with Structural emphasis
Desired Skills/ Experience
- PE license in Michigan or ability to obtain by reciprocity.
- Ten years Structural Engineering consulting business experience.
- Familiar with modeling in a BIM environment (preferably with Revit software).
- Experienced with analytical/design software such as RISA, RAM and Tedds.
- Familiar with standards such as AISC 341, ACI 350, ACI 530, and NDS.
- Willing to make occasional trips to the Fishbeck Grand Rapids office.
