Senior Billing Representative - National Remote

This position is full time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm PST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer 4 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be during our normal business hours.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Process review, data analysis and measurement
  • Preparation of reports as needed by management
  • Identification and communication of billing issues to management
  • Collaborate with internal partners (e.g., brokers, account managers) and/or external customers/payers to resolve customer issues
  • Prepares and coordinates presentations, trainings, etc; used as an educational resource
  • Analyze relevant information to determine potential reasons for billing discrepancies
  • Reconcile discrepancies identified within customer invoices/billing and reports
  • May involve some interfacing with clients, managed care customers, IT resources and others when needed
  • May involve implementation of new technologies and processes (includes testing and follow up)
  • Schedule and ad hoc auditing of various systems and databases
  • Assignment of special projects as needed

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • 2+ years of hospital billing experience
  • 2+ years of experience in government billing (Medicare/Medi-Cal)
  • Ability to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm PST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • 2+ years of experience working within collections
  • EPIC experience
  • Experience working with clients (patients, medical facilities, etc.)
  • Experience using Microsoft Word (creating and editing documents), Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar), and Microsoft Excel (filter, edit, sort, creating spreadsheets, basic formulas)
  • Knowledgeable about billing practices and process management concepts - this may include knowledge of Test pricing and CPT coding or reimbursement processes, 3rd party provider enrollments, claims submissions, EDI and HIPAA transactions and/or accounts receivables



Telecommuting Requirements:



  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
