About the Department and/or College

The Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration is AACSB accredited and houses the School of Accounting that holds separate AACSB accreditation. The college offers the BBA degree with majors in accounting, energy commerce, finance, information technology, management, marketing, and supply chain management. Several formats of the MBA program are offered in full-time, weekend, and online modalities in Lubbock, the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Houston, and San Antonio. The College offers MS degrees in accounting, data science, finance, and marketing research and analytics. A Ph.D. in business administration is offered with tracks in accounting, finance, management, management information systems, and marketing. With a faculty of over 140 and a staff that exceeds 80, the college enrolls over 5,000 undergraduate and 800 graduate students.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Advise international students and specialty masters students on effective internship and full-time job search methods. Work one-on-one with students seeking career opportunities with targeted companies or career paths.
  • Create new employer partnerships to meet the existing and forecasted employment needs of students. Manage relationships with existing employer partners through exceptional customer service.
  • Research trends and legal changes for international student employment and visa sponsorship processes. Present workshops and counseling sessions to aid students with their search. Partner with the Office of International Affairs and Rawls Graduate & Professional Programs office as needed.
  • Plan and organize resume and career prep workshops, networking events, and other educational seminars as necessary to meet student needs.
  • Organize and lead student industry trips for specific student groups.
  • Research trends and advise graduate students on certifications or non-academic resources beneficial in the hiring process.
  • Plan and organize annual alumni networking and recruiting events for specific graduate programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Three years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job-related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree in a related business field. Experience living, working, or studying outside of home country. Minimum 1-year experience counseling, coaching or advising college students in one-on-one and/or small group settings, preferably with career-related issues.
  • Exceptional customer service. Ability to network with company representatives and HR personnel. High level of professionalism in a business environment. Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills. Basic event planning for targeted groups of 50-100 attendees.
  • Working knowledge of the international student visa sponsorship process. Experience in human resources, sales, recruiting, or student advising. Basic understanding of the technical recruiting process. Understanding of international employment practices outside of the United States
