Summary In this role, the Senior Director, Asset Project Management, will partner with the Executive Director, Asset Program Lead and be responsible for leading cross-functional project management for one or more Asset Programs, and overseeing successful achievement of the Asset Program(s) goals. Additionally, the Senior Director will be responsible for implementing a repeatable, fit-for-purpose project framework for use across Asset Programs, leveraging the enterprise project management office's tools, technologies, and by establishing other processes necessary to maintain consistent practice, project communications, dashboarding, risk and issue management. In this role, the Senior Director will oversee, manage, coach and develop other Asset project managers. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Partner closely with Executive Director, Asset Program Lead and other senior management in the development, management and execution of an integrated project plan that reflects the strategy and plan to achieve the objectives of the Asset Program
- Build center-of-excellence model for Asset Project Management:
- Establish a repeatable project management framework and reporting and dashboard structure that fosters consistent cross-functional understanding around the status and health of the program, the risks and dependencies.
- Leverage broader enterprise project management fit-for-purpose project management processes and tools using Smartsheets and other mechanisms that foster consistency, efficiency and portfolio reporting.
- Provide strategic project management for a cross-functional asset program including development of an integrated detailed project plan, driving oversight and tracking progress against plan, anticipating risk to critical path and/or dependencies and facilitate risk and issue resolution
- Measure progress and drive collaboration throughout team to maintain high performance
- Facilitate team meetings with a results-oriented approach, fostering positive collaboration, constructive deliberation and outcomes-focus
- Support and oversee expert teams in establishing development, clinical or regulatory operational plans that support the achievement of the overall Asset Program objectives, including assessment of dependencies, critical path, resourcing and budgeting, and timelines
- Oversee and support cross-functional collaboration across expert teams ensuring plan progress and opportunities to exchange ideas and/or challenges that impact the overall program
- Partner with and gain senior management alignment around the critical/key success measures for the asset program to inform escalations, portfolio reporting and governance discussions and decisions
- In partnership with Asset Lead, prepare for and lead governance meetings and provoke meaningful discussion around key topics, decisions and/or considerations
- Foster strong rapport with business leads, and expert team members to stay current on overall progress, to identify emerging risks, competing priorities and/or to facilitate dialogue around key decisions, risks/issues
- Create and steer comprehensive communication and reporting that fosters regular, proactive sharing of information
- Encourage and share good practices across teams, anticipate potential collision points, support resolution of workstream challenges by proactively posing key questions to gauge progress, and/or to surface unrealized risk or opportunities
- Lead, motivate, manage, and support a team of seasoned asset project managers with responsibility for providing project management to other asset program teams
- Provide regular support and coaching of team members to provide consistently positive and valued partnership across asset program teams
- Regularly prepare, present and report to executive management, senior management, and workstream leads on asset program plan performance, status against the critical success factors and other key risks or opportunities that emerge
- Act as a coach, mentor and resource to foster good performance while instilling team spirit and Lantheus' core values
- Resolve conflicts and escalate issues in an effective manner
- Always demonstrate good safety practices. Reports and takes initiative to correct safety & environmental hazards.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree; Masters' Business Administration (MBA), PPM or advanced degree preferred.
- 15-20 years' relevant project/program management experience within the pharmaceutical industry, with specific application in drug development, regulatory and/or clinical development, or CMC
- Previous experience participating or leading asset teams in pharmaceutical industry preferred
- Strong understanding of the drug development process and familiarity with regulatory requirements
- Ability to influence without authority and operate in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment
- Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional and matrix team engagement, balancing healthy deliberation and inclusion while also maintaining and prioritizing key timelines
- Expertise in establishing cross-functional standards in support of business operations systems, especially as they impact and influence multiple departments and levels of management
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills with an ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to see and communicate a stated vision, understand the strategy, and align tactics to the strategy.
- Strong and effective strategic thinker and problem solver with high degree of emotional intelligence, with the ability to both recognize and anticipate problems.
- Ability to translate solutions into viable action plans at an enterprise level that are effectively disseminated and implemented through cooperation of stakeholders.
- Experience managing and resolving issues, risks, and conflicts
- Proven ability to operate independently, with minimal direct day-to-day supervision
