Role Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting series maintenance and model care launch activities of the high and low voltage wire harnesses in Chattanooga built vehicles. The responsibilities include the tracking of development status with lead engineers in Germany and Mexico to identify and propose changes as necessary along with identifying and pushing forward material cost savings ideas.
Role Responsibilities:
Main responsibility - Local Product Technical Support (50%)
- Work with internal and external partners to ensure technical Volkswagen requirements are available and understood during engineering changes or requests.
- Technical assistance to Volkswagen internal partners and supplier partners.
- Ensure project timelines for the wire harness topics are tracked and reported accordingly.
Additional responsibilities - Coordination with development lead (30%)
- Represent local development project interest in tandem with project lead in Germany or Mexico
- Ensure constant communication of project status.
- Align locally requested changes with project leads in Germany or Mexico
- Align platform changes initiated abroad are implemented in the localized project.
Additional responsibilities - Supportive engineering Activities (20%)
- Coordinating and participating in workshops with engineering partners during prototype phases.
- Support cross functional teams for electrical topics.
- Support on defining, maintaining, procedures and instructions of the VW engineering processes.
Qualifications
Qualifications Years of Experience:
Education - Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or applicable experience
Education - Desired:
- Master's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Skills:

Specialized Skills - Required:
- Experience with automotive component development. Electrical preferred.
- Experience with use of electrical measurement equipment, such as but not limited to Oscilloscope, VOM, insulation testers.
- Experience identifying and implementing material cost savings changes on automotive components.
- Experience of Automotive electrical drawing interpretation.
Specialized Skills - Desired:
- German language skills
- Spanish language skills
- Experience working with high voltage automotive systems.
- Experience with Volkswagen electrical system architecture.
- Experience with VW Engineering software systems.
- Experience with wire harness manufacturing.
- Experience with the development and launch of interior and/or exterior automotive components.
Work Flexibility:
- Occasional traveling to the suppliers and the R&D departments in Wolfsburg, Germany, or Puebla Mexico
