Job Summary |
Engineering and production leadership responsibilities in the
UTD
BEACONS battery prototype facility.
BEACONS is a joint venture with the
DOD in providing resources to aid in the advancement of new technology battery production domestically. This vision encompasses the development of the required workforce and analysis of the domestic supply of critical materials to establish probability. The engineering role within the prototype facility will comprise of leading and coaching the technician(s) in the development of customer driven new technologies into an industry standard battery product within a prototype production environment. The Engineer will also take a leadership role in ensuring the integrity of the customer's product, data and IP from initial introduction to project completion. |
Minimum Education and Experience |
Bachelor's degree in engineering and three (3) years of related experience. |
Preferred Education and Experience |
Preferred Qualifications:
- Automation support and troubleshooting.
- Two (2) years of electrochemical manufacturing experience
- Pivot table and macro experience in Excel.
PLC Programming Experience- Data Collection and Report writing experience.
ABET accreditation of education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Attention to detail.
- Hands-on Mechanical and Electrical aptitude.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and train others.
- Six Sigma methodology experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Works directly with UT Dallas BEACONS lab customers to ensure battery manufacturing needs are understood and implemented.
- Will lead the technician(s) in the production of prototype products for the customers, ensuring all procedures and processes are executed in detail to promote the highest opportunity of success.
- Owns the quality of the product produced including detailed data collection and communication of all observations to ensure a complete and accurate report to the customer as dictated by the agreement of services.
- Communicates project information in a concise manner to customers and management.
- Takes ownership in the troubleshooting of process and equipment performance issues and leading it to a successful conclusion.
- Leads in completion solutions to the requests for modified or new processes requested by customers in the development of the products defined in the agreement of services.
- Responsible for leading the execution and recording of equipment maintenance involved in the processing and testing of batteries.
- Responsible for leading the execution and recording of maintenance battery test equipment to include calibration, verification, and data analysis.
- Adheres to all company, state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Level:
Performs work under the general supervision of the
BEACONS Lab Director. Handles complex issues and problems. Possesses and continues to grow knowledge of subject matter. Will provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to technicians. |
