Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Technology to lead all technology efforts for a fast-growing business unit. This leader will be an integral part of the business unit leadership team and be their champion for all aspects of technology including Application Development, AI/Automation, Infrastructure, Operations, and Team Member Technology. This executive will be responsible for driving the strategic vision, architecture, and execution of a wide range of technology programs to support the business objectives. The VP will manage cross-functional teams/matrixed resources, foster innovation, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure applications. Pay range is approximately $200,000 - 230,000
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develop and execute the application development strategy in alignment with the organization's business objectives.
- Drive innovation by identifying emerging technologies and opportunities to improve the company's digital capabilities.
- Lead and mentor a team of application developers, architects, and technical managers to achieve high performance.
- Establish a collaborative culture that encourages continuous improvement, professional growth, and knowledge sharing.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of custom applications and enhancements to existing systems.
- Ensure that applications are scalable, maintainable, and adhere to quality standards and best practices.
- Partner with stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, timelines, and budgets.
- Manage the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, security practices, and compliance protocols.
- Monitor application performance and reliability, implementing proactive measures to mitigate risks.
- Manage relationships with external technology vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.
- Evaluate and select third-party solutions to complement in-house development.
- Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
- Identify opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality or innovation.
ESSENTIAL MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carrying out all responsibilities in accordance with the company's standards, policies, and all applicable employment laws.
- Managing and monitoring workflow and providing support, training, and techniques to assist staff in achieving department daily/weekly/monthly goals and standards.
- Encouraging positive morale, maintaining harmony among staff, and resolving grievances when necessary.
- Overseeing the completion and approval of employee timecards and coordinating overtime needs with management and staff as needed.
- Actively participating in the department's staffing requirements including hiring, onboarding, and separating of employees.
- Creating and implementing plan to meet department's goals and metrics based on workload and client needs.
- Communicating change effectively and supporting those affected by change.
- Managing insubordinate staff when warranted and initiating coaching or corrective actions as required and/or directed by upper management.
- Evaluating staff needs and performance, providing periodic feedback to staff and reporting any performance concerns and/or recommendations growth opportunities to management.
- Actively participating and successfully conducting annual performance evaluations.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree from four-year College/University required. Ten years of experience in applicable innovative technologies including application development, virtualization, public and private cloud. Five years in a leadership or managerial position is preferred. Experience in a highly regulated industry such as healthcare also preferred. QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have 10 years of experience in application development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Must have proven history of managing application development initiatives, including cloud-based solutions.
- Must have expertise in modern programming languages, frameworks, and development tools (e.g., Java, .NET, Python, React, Angular, etc.).
- Must have strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Must have excellent leadership, communication, and people skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within budget and on schedule.
- Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Must be able to work independently, prioritize work activities and use time efficiently.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to travel when necessary.
- Must be able to demonstrate and promote a positive team -oriented environment.
- Must be able to stay focused and concentrate under normal or heavy distractions.
- Must be able to work well under pressure or stressful conditions and meet required project deadlines.
- Must have the ability to manage and direct change, delays, or unexpected events appropriately.
- Must be available to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
- Must have experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Must have knowledge of data analytics, AI/ML, or emerging technologies.
- Must have experience in building secure and compliant applications (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Ability to follow all company policies and procedures in effect at time of hire and as they may change or be added from time to time.
