What you'll do

Viasat is looking for a Product Owner for our Knowledge Team to drive the development and optimization of our knowledge management solutions. This role involves managing, developing, and advancing tools such as Glean, Confluence, Neo4j, enterprise knowledge graphs, and custom data governance solutions. The Knowledge Team's mission is to optimize organizational learning by delivering a coherent and comprehensive knowledge management solution. Successful candidates will be strategic and tactical thinkers with a proven track record of efficient execution. The ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing needs is essential.The roles and responsibilities of this position include the following:
  • Oversee planning, design, implementation, organizational change, and reporting activities for highly-visible products.
  • Own the team's vision, and evangelize it throughout the organization.
  • Bring the "voice of the customer" onto the team. Deeply understand, document, analyze, and synthesize user needs into product priorities and roadmap plans.
  • Drive success of the product through iterative improvement on an ongoing basis with the team and other stakeholders.
  • Develop, refine, and report on relevant metrics.
  • Lead a small team to understand how knowledge is consumed and produced at Viasat.
  • Coordinate with Viasat's learning and training team to deliver training about generative AI capabilities.

The day-to-day

  • Engage in 1:1 or small-group meetings with employees to understand their problems and design knowledge management solutions, including but not limited to: training and education, LLM prompt template development, system instrumentation and integration, and custom app development (traditional or generative AI focused).
  • Design and complete scientific experiments that test hypotheses for the knowledge management solutions.
  • Review pull requests for custom development solutions, such as system automation or data integration.
  • Participate in weekly or monthly meetings with various communities of practice (e.g., data governance, AI/ML, integration, application portfolio management).
  • Coordinate training sessions on generative AI, develop and report on relevant metrics, and ensure customer insights shape product decisions.
  • Async Slack messages and live impromptu Zoom meetings to mentor and guide team members.

What you'll need

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems, Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in project planning/tracking, resource management, and product delivery.
  • Specific experience with agile methodologies and tools and modern software development environments.
  • Strong team building, collaboration, and written & verbal communication skills.
  • Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business units, while cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and comfortable with technical details -- you can have credible conversations with engineers about technical implementations and product issues.
  • US Citizenship Required.
  • Up to 10% Travel.

What will help you on the job

  • 8+ years of domain knowledge and/or experience in the subject areas of software engineering and/or information security.
  • Experience with AI/ML systems and their use to support knowledge management solutions.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and/or technologies (Amazon, Openstack, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with various programming languages such as Python, Go, Ruby, Java, and C.
  • Experience with logging, monitoring, security logging, visualization systems.
  • Knowledge of software automation and DevOps (CI/CD pipelines, tools, and methods).
  • Proven experience understanding customers' knowledge management problems and deploying solutions to improve productivity and innovation.

Salary range

$176,500.00 - $251,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $219,500.00- $296,500.00/ annually
