Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Physics or a closely related discipline, in hand by the start of the appointment. Evidence of effectively communicating research through conference presentations and/or journal papers.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with significant experience in strongly correlated systems, such as quantum spin liquid and non-fermi liquid, and strong background in quantum field theory. Candidates should also be proficient in conducting research, giving seminars, and writing papers.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Dr. Han Ma in the
department of Physics and Astronomy. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

* Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct active research in theoretical physics and related disciplines at the highest international levels and be actively engaged on an ongoing basis in all associated aspects of research including, among other things, publishing papers and attending workshops and seminars.

* Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.

* Be actively engaged in enhancing the overall research environment at condensed matter group and physics department, such as organizing seminars, journal clubs, conferences.

* Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.

* Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.

Special Notes: This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
