CHANGE MANAGEMENT ENGINEER

As we strive to build and launch rockets at an ever-increasing rate - while continuously developing and improving the rocket by implementing design changes on every build - all aspects of our business must increase their output and efficiency to support.

The purpose of the Change Management Engineer position is to oversee the smooth and efficient introduction of Engineering Changes and process improvement activities into Production processes for the Electron, Neutron, and In-Space vehicles/components (and other products as required). This involves managing change requests (submitted as Problem Reports in the Teamcenter Change Module), providing planning and project coordination to support development and implementation of changes, maintaining an accurate and complete Bill of Materials for each build, and working closely with Supply Chain and Production to ensure item master data is kept up to date.

The Change Management Engineer is also responsible for approving and releasing assembly/vehicle configurations (in Teamcenter) in a timely manner to support the Production schedule and ensure a successful launch manifest. The continuous improvement of the Engineering Change process itself will also be the responsibility of the Change Management Engineer.

Key attributes for this role include being action oriented with the ability to move at pace while maintaining a collaborative approach where you build alliances and keep others engaged in the process. Strong organization, communication, and analytical skills are important and innovative approaches are welcome.

WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:

Engineering Change Process



  • Ongoing maintenance and development of the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process, including all tools (Redmine, Teamcenter, etc) and processes including documentation (e.g. Engineering Change Process Standard)
  • Reporting on open and closed Engineering Changes, with metrics showing speed and efficiency of Engineering Changes through the process to identify any bottlenecks (and areas for potential improvement)
  • Collecting feedback on the ECR process in order to continue to make further improvements as required


Engineering Change Approval Process



  • The Engineering Change Team will facilitate the submission of new changes for review, where the completed changes will be submitted to stakeholders for a decision whether to proceed with the change, including evaluation of available resources to complete the change


Project Management of ECRs



  • For all major ECR's, the Change Management Engineer will be responsible for working with contributors through the process to ensure the change is implemented as efficiently and completely as possible
  • To provide regular reporting that Engineering Changes are on track against the project schedule, and take action when this is not the case
  • Provide regular reporting (and transparency) on the progress of each change through the change process


BOM Configuration Control



  • Working closely with Planning to ensure the on-time delivery of Vehicle Bill of Materials (BOM) to meet the production schedule including:
  • eBOM control and release including
  • Master data, Effectivity, eBOM Release, Drawing release
  • mBOM control and release including
  • Master Data, Effectivity, Accountability check (mBOM to eBOM)


Master Data Maintenance and Analysis



  • Checking that this design data is accurate and complete before it is released to Supply Chain and Manufacturing, particularly with respect to key attributes (Item properties)


YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Engineering Degree or equivalent and2+ years of experience in a design and/or manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Engineering design, CAD, Engineering drawings, manufacturing processes
  • Strong understanding of the Engineering Change Process and associated Configuration Management


THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:



  • PDM and other CAD file database experience
  • Understanding of Engineering change and associated part numbering and revision schemes
  • Project Management experience
  • Working knowledge of SQL Databases
  • ERP Experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationship.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be physically able to commute to buildings
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.

Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
