Overview

The CAES Advanced Program Development (APD) line of business is seeking a highly experienced Senior Digital Engineer for new product development and product improvement projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This includes design, analysis, and all aspects of project engineering work.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, simulate, design, develop, support implementation, and integration of digital functions and sub-systems into CAES' products.
  • Perform requirements specification, digital design, simulation, design validation, system integration, and transition to production.
  • Create digital concept and architecture from specifications.
  • Design digital hardware to interface with real-time and closed-loop Electronic Warfare subsystems to meet system requirements.
  • Circuit card design including parts selection, schematic entry, and layout
  • Write and simulate VHDL for FPGAs.
  • Write and debug embedded C/C++ for embedded processors.
  • Test and integrate circuit cards / sub-systems / systems.
  • Interface with complex RF subsystems
  • Be responsible for complete board/module designs with respect to technical details, budget, and schedule.
  • Contribute to proposals for new business and provide labor estimates.
  • Author related documentation such as version description documents, verification procedures, etc.
  • Lead technical teams
  • Mentor junior engineers

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Engineering in high-tech R&D and/or manufacturing companies.
  • Work experience in electronic product design and development.
  • Experience in all phases of board development from inception through production (architecture, schematics, layout, debug and documentation), and FPGA applications.
  • Experience with electronics (software, firmware, and hardware) design & manufacture, relevant market/customer acumen, and strong product and technology expertise.
  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and all other aspects of electrical engineering.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Advanced degree in a technical specialty or in management.
  • Experience working in and driving results for a matrix organization.
  • Work experience in electronic product design and development.
  • Experience with prototype assembly, turn-on, and debug in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience taking a design from concept to production, including characterization of designs.
  • Knowledge of radar, EW/ELINT/SIGINT, and communications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital and/or analog design.
  • Proficiency with Altium or Xpedition PCB design tools.
  • Knowledge of PCI Express and Ethernet.
  • Ability to work efficiently and cross-functionally, including working with high-volume domestic and international manufacturing facilities.
  • Systems Engineering and/or RF experience is also highly desired.
  • C/C++, MATLAB, Python, or other programming language expertise.
  • Knowledge of FPGA functional verification, analysis, and techniques using simulation and emulation, UVM testbenches, or formal verification
  • Experience implementing hardware assurance, trust, and cyber security features
  • Experience with FPGA SoC firmware and software development
  • Experience with embedded Linux and RTOS development including U-Boot, Yocto, BitBake, driver development, multi-threaded applications, and device trees
  • Knowledge of best practices in signal integrity and experience performing signal integrity analysis

Salary Range: $110,000-$175,000 Annual Salary. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as business results.
