133 Old Road to Nine Acre Corner, Concord, MA 01742 Department: Lab - Phlebotomy Schedule: Full Time Shift: Night shift Hours: 2030-0700 Under the general direction of the Phlebotomy/Processing Supervisor provides blood specimens for diagnoses and accession specimens by drawing blood from patients and performing data collection and entry. Job Functions: Supervises phlebotomy area in supervisors absence by directing and overseeing the work of other phlebotomists, including daily assignments Trains new staff members by orienting each to the lab and hospital and teaching the principles and techniques of phlebotomy as practiced by the hospital Obtains blood specimens for inpatients/outpatients by going to floors and drawing blood per floor requests or drawing in the lab per outpatient requests Responds to stat requests by giving priority treatment to affected patients and alerting department personnel to stat request Maintains proper documentation of activities by logging in and out of nursing books and signing other required documentation Performs accessioning duties by identifying, data entry, and labeling all specimens Assists with specimens brought in and staffing of specimen processing department Assists with general operations by covering understaffed areas as needed, starting glucose tolerance tests, answering phones and other related duties Assists with patient call backs Assist with weekly supply ordering, including inventory in laboratory, JCB laboratory, as well as clinical units that draw blood for the laboratory Assist in the coordination of home draws Daily review as necessary of Uncollected List (General Lab & Microbiology) Assist in the crosstraining of Phlebotomy & Central Processing staff Other duties as assigned from time to time. |
