Job entails assisting the anesthesiology staff within the operating room in order to facilitate patient care.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Assists in the operating room set up and turnover when indicated:
    • 1.1 Assists with turnover: changing and wiping down anesthesia disposable and none disposable equipment
  • 2. Provides basic technical support to anesthesia team within operating rooms and off floor locations.
    • 2.1 Trouble shoots anesthesia equipment
  • 3. Provides complex airway management support to anesthesia care provider
    • 3.1 Maintains difficult airway equipment and trauma rooms at all times
  • 4. Provides clean and sterile disposable and none disposable equipment and supplies to anesthesia care provider
    • 4.1 Decontaminates , cleans and sterilizes echo transducers as per protocol
  • 5. Personal effectiveness and accountability :
    • 5.1 Follows through consistently on commitments and task closure

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, prefer Associates degree in Biological Sciences.
Factory approved training in basic trouble shooting for anesthesia machines, physiologic monitors, blood gas machines, rapid infusers.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 12 months as a clinical technician, PCA, CNA,TA, pharmacy technician preferred. Operating room experience and technical background is helpful. For casual position we encourage nursing students and healthcare college students to apply.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Employee must exhibit excellent communication skills. Individual must be able to tolerate high stress areas of work. . Basic computer skills are required to perform daily tasks in OR applications to include email, RFID equipment tracking system and Epic status board. Individual is expected to achieve competence in all required skills after completion of department training program, including passing departmental competencies. Employee must possess good interpersonal skills in order to participate as a member of the Perioperative Support staff.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

The working environment is a high stress area. The ability to perform tasks of physical endurance and dexterity as required. Individual must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, using consistent use of proper body mechanics. All duties require pushing, pulling lifting, bending and standing. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Exposure to biohazards and handling of bodily fluids.
