Position Summary

The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Payroll Group in the accurate and timely processing of the Company's weekly payroll. This includes collection and review of hourly time reporting for completeness and accuracy, processing of new hire paperwork, and assisting in the processing and review of ongoing payroll record maintenance.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain personnel records regarding changes to payrates, tax and benefit elections, union deductions, etc.
  • Set up new employees and process rehires
  • Process employee terminations
  • Respond to wage audits for various state unemployment agencies and child support
  • Enter and maintain child support and wage garnishment orders
  • Process employee unemployment insurance benefit claims
  • Work with project teams/area offices to resolve discrepancies in pay or benefits
  • Complete requests for Verification of Employment within 24 hours
  • Assist with weekly payroll review and processing
  • Other duties as assigned by the Corporate Payroll Manager

Qualifications

  • Past experience in payroll processing
  • Strong knowledge of various tax and wage laws
  • Past experience with union and/or multi-state payroll preferred
  • Ability to work under time constraints to ensure payroll deadlines are met
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multitask
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills

Working Conditions

  • Location - This role will be in the Burnsville, MN office.
  • Office environment - Extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally
