What success looks like in this role:

Provides leadership to inspire, influence and guide associates in a complete development engineering or applied research program. They have budget and deliverable accountability and must achieve deliverables within established schedules, costs and quality requirements. When appropriate, an individual in this role may focus exclusively on program and product management elements of this role, either as an individual contributor or manager of a small team of project managers or consulting engineers. In this function, the individual would lead the definition of the engineering deliverables and roadmap for a major part of the portfolio, coordinating all engineering deliverables across organizations and locations. Key Responsibilities * Meet or exceed delivery and budget objectives and other relevant operational/program/business requirements. * Conceptualize ideas and convert them into programs or projects. * Develop objectives for major programs and projects. * Participate in the development of long range plans and engineering, applied research and product strategies consistent with those plans. * Develop plans and establish schedules and cost objectives for engineering programs and ensure effective implementation. * Keep abreast of engineering / applied research trends and developments and incorporate them into assignments where appropriate. * Work closely with other functional groups, i.e. Marketing, Finance and customers to formulate long range plans. * Build strong working relationship/collaborate with other Business Units and field personnel to provide excellent customer support. * Deliver on time within the allocated resource, revenue and capital budgets. * Evaluate and negotiate third-party tools and services. * Generate systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures. * Complete performance reviews on all direct reports within the Unisys policy/guidelines. * Lead efforts of virtual teams. Understand regional cultural considerations and builds strong working relationships. * Provide skill and career development opportunities for the employees in their organization. * Follow business processes and contribute engineering components as appropriate. * Lead an organization of subordinate managers and a total population of up to 100 employees. * Participates in Innovation activities by fostering a collaborative environment for associates, providing mentoring, coaching, resources and leadership for ideas. Reviews and comments on Innovation portal ideas.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Key Qualifications * Understand Product Life Cycle management in a systems engineering environment, with focus on agile methodologies. * Ability to work in a global team, with multiple stakeholders across functions, business units and geographical regions * Ability to interact with senior client representatives face to face * Demonstrate thought leadership in any one of the areas by publishing papers / journals or presentations in conferences, patents etc * Proactive, analytical and capable of influencing and providing decision support * Team Player, leader and mentor. * Computer Science/EE undergraduate degree, or demonstrated equivalent knowledge. Post-graduate degree preferred * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good command over English language * 20-25 years (currently used in India) of experience within a systems engineering organization.
