Position Summary

UNM Division of Endocrinology within the department of Internal Medicine is seeking a student employee to perform a range of basic office support activities for the department, such as answering phones and directing calls, greeting and directing visitors, answering questions and performing routine clerical, data entry, and/or word processing work as assigned. The student will also do patient calls and remind them of their appointments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Answers telephones,routes calls, takes messages, and provides general information; greets and directs visitors; answers routine inquiries; maintains log of inquiries as required.

Opens and routes incoming mail; distributes correspondence and other material to department staff/faculty.

Student will spend 50% working closely with the division chief regarding citations.

Performs a variety of routine typing assignments as appropriate to the position; may operate a personal computer to draft basic correspondence, enter data, and print letters, labels, reports, and/or other materials; types and mails form letters.

Copies and/or duplicates materials as requested; may oversee day-to-day operation of copy machine; may prepare and transmit facsimiles for the department.

Establishes, maintains, processes, and/or updates files, records, and/or other documents.

May run various routine errands around campus, as required, for the unit/department.

Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.



Preferred Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Self-starter who can work independently and is detailed oriented.
Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Able to search the internet for scientific articles and information.
Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Dependable, flexible and has a customer service attitude.
