The Business Systems Analyst position examines organization information by utilizing technology-based analysis of business practices, processes and problems. Incumbent will develop solutions which may involve process design, data and information architecture, software development and policy or procedural changes; creating specifications for systems to meet requirements; validating requirements against needs; designing details of automated systems; developing user interface design; planning and executing unit integration and end-user acceptance testing; may develop training materials for system implementation. Incumbent may also lead cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues.
Incumbent will be a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and / or structure. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy.
Applies advanced business process and analysis concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results.

Responsibilities and Duties

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Applies advanced business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define highly complex systems scope and objectives based on advanced knowledge of applicable business practices, processes and systems and industry standards to meet end-user needs. Works at the highest technical level of various phases of systems analysis. Considers the business implications of applying technology to the current and future business environment.
- Initiates, designs or modifies highly complex systems and procedures where standardized policies or procedures may or may not exist. Creates highly technical specifications for systems with broad impact.
- Develops unit integration and acceptance testing plans and scenarios. May lead cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues.
- Performs highly complex analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements and translation into proper system and process requirement specifications. Provides advanced support and training on new applications.
- Develop process and system implementation plans.
- Consults with end users together and clarify data and reporting needs for complex business intelligence solutions and analytics. Writes queries, develops report templates, and dashboards.
- Performs predictive analysis and forecasting to provide information that supports organizational goals.
- Mines data to quantify relationships and identify issues warranting further analysis.
- Conducts industry benchmarking analysis and develops quantitative business cases. Presents recommendations to managers.
- Identifies and analyzes errors and problems for end users, developing and applying functional solutions and/or conducting specific training as needed.
- Conducts on-going analyses of data sources and data sets. Identifies issues and collaborates on developing solutions to data management challenges.
- Participates in developing and/or delivering curriculum for end user training to ensure user competence, data access, and optimal performance of BI tools and processes.
- Serves on internal committees and participates on cross-functional teams to solve business, process, service and / systems issues.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:
- Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions
- Experience with process analysis, systems analysis, process architectures and systems analysis methodologies and practices including traditional waterfall, Agile, Agile Scrum, UML, UML Enterprise, et cetera.
- Understanding of complex process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.
- Advanced knowledge of related areas of IT.
- Knowledge relating to the design of processes and software across the organization
- Advanced skills and methodologies associated with process and software design, modification and implementation.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation. Demonstrated analytical and problem-resolution skills.
- Knowledge of computer flow charts and programming logic and codes.
- Business process and data modeling.
- Advanced knowledge of business processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
- Knowledge of project management principals.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a related field and three (3) years of increasingly responsible related experience. One (1) year in a lead or supervisory capacity
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible related experience. One (1) year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
