The Development Electrical Engineer located onsite in Elma, NY, typically reports to an Engineering Manager, Section Head or Group Leader within the Moog Military Aircraft Group Test Systems Engineering department.

Here's what you'll work on:

The Test Systems Electrical Development Engineer will contribute to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and test of complex control systems' electrical components. These systems will be used for qualification and acceptance testing of Moog's military aircraft control system products.

In the early stages of a new program, the project team will consult with the customer, establish the problem statement, conceive of potential hardware solutions to the problem, and then create a successful technical proposal. Under the technical direction of the team's lead Engineer, the Development Engineer will then contribute to the evolution of the conceptual design, technical project planning, detail design, and testing (risk mitigation, integration, and validation/verification).

You will:

  • Operate as part of a multi-disciplinary design and development team.

  • Coordinate the work of drafters, technicians, vendors, and others who support new designs.

  • Ensure compliance of electrical designs to established performance and safety requirements.

  • Select COTS parts and electrical components for test console assemblies.

  • Design custom cable harness assemblies for electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic test systems.

  • Design and troubleshoot wiring schematics and drawings for electromechanical subassemblies.

  • Contribute to the design and analysis of custom circuit cards to command and monitor control devices (EHSV, SOV, DDV, LVDT, Resolver, etc.).

  • Contribute to the design and analysis of custom circuit cards for signal conditioning of mechanical/hydraulic measurement devices (pressure transducers, strain gauges, flow meters, load cells, encoders, temperature sensors, etc.).

  • Perform TAR/TUR analyses on electrical signal paths of complex test systems.

  • Develop calibration requirements and contribute to the development of calibration procedures for your designs.

To be considered, here's typically what you will need to bring with you:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience designing/developing electronic devices in control systems, or a Master's Degree in Engineering with 1+ year of industry-related experience.

  • Knowledge of industry standards in wiring/harness assemblies and electromechanical subassembly design is required

  • Basic knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, electrical hardware design, and circuit analysis is required

  • Basic understanding of sensor/transducer applications, industrial or aircraft closed loop control systems, and data acquisition systems is desired

  • Experience with Cadence CIS and PSPICE (or similar schematic and circuit design software) is desired

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, Visio) is required

  • Good written and verbal communication skills are also preferred

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $80,000.00-$100,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
