UCI Human Resources (HR) serves the UCI enterprise in three distinct business units: Health (Academic Hospitals and Community Network), College of Health Sciences, and Main Campus. Your Role on the Team

UC Irvine is recruiting for two HR Client Services Directors to serve two distinct client groups: UCI Health Academic Hospitals and UCI Health Community Network.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the HR Client Services Director develops, leads, and ensures integrated delivery of high quality HR services that support business strategy and operations and ensures excellent HR customer service to UCI Health System clients. The position directly manages HR Business Partners, Generalists, and Compensation staff and programs. The role is client-centric in that the incumbent is a working leader with assigned clients and must meet the needs and expectations of clients to ensure delivery of customer service goals. The incumbent will also ensure the integration of HR business partners into the business of their clients. The position is accountable for all associated HR policy and regulatory compliance within scope of the position.

Manages subordinate managers primarily responsible for administering personnel policies and procedures. Establishes objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers. Responsible for managing, preparing, administering, and directing HR resources. Reviews and approves recommendations for HR programs. Involved in developing, modifying, and executing policies that affect immediate operation(s) and may also have organization-wide effect. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve HR goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules. May manage HR professionals in a central HR function, identifying functional objectives for the organization, and determining the resources necessary to achieve those objectives.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $116,000 - $224,200 (Annual).

Required:

  • 10 years of progressively broad and functionally diverse HR experience. Three years of experience as an HR Manager or Director, supervising others.
  • Thorough knowledge of organizational and systemwide personnel policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Direct knowledge of specific functions in a university's HR management information systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with a diversity of communication styles; may make oral or written presentations.
  • Ability to make decisions regarding hiring, evaluating, and development of subordinates.
  • Excellent management skills that include collaboration, coaching and developing subordinates; ability to build relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle extremely difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively.
  • Deep functional expertise in employee relations and compensation.
  • Ability to build, attract and develop a strong team by demonstrating and setting high standards of behavior, performance, quality, credibility and integrity.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to align strategy to drive the business.
  • Demonstrated coaching and consultative skills with all levels of staff, including senior leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field, and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Knowledge and experience in medical center organizations.

Preferred:

  • Solid knowledge of performing HR functions in a unionized environment.
  • Masters Degree
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification or PHR or SPHR Certification (preferred)
