Department Information
Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) serves the Institute and its more than 14,000 employees through strategic counsel, employee engagement, and essential human capital management operations. As the people's unit, GTHR is engaged throughout the employee's lifetime at Georgia Tech. Our team works with sensitive employee information and assists in the management of complex employee issues. Professionalism and confidence are of the utmost importance within our team.

What we do:
Process payroll and maintain employment data for approximately 14,000 active faculty, staff, and students
Strive to attract, recruit and retain the best talent in the marketplace
Provide immigration, labor, and tax support required for foreign national faculty and staff to work at Georgia Tech as well as support employees performing services overseas.
Leverage a market-driven compensation structure to attract and retain employees
Advise employees and managers regarding work performance and conflict management

The Administrative Services Center (ASC) is one of many outcomes of Administrative Excellence - a strategic initiative that is delivering on operational excellence and providing an exceptional quality of service and customer satisfaction. The ASC partners with local and central units to provide efficient and consistent support for administrative operations across the Institute. The ASC launched in the Fall 2022 as Georgia Tech's first administrative shared services center serving as the front door for all HR related inquiries, the initiation of hiring related actions for all employee types and employee data management. In 2023 the ASC welcomed the following new services to the center as we continue to support administrative services and resources for an improved customer experience:
IT Support Services: These services include Audio Visual (AV), Technology Support (previously the Enterprise Service Desk or ESD), and Directory Services (DS) and offer one phone number, one location and one portal for all general IT related inquiries.
Employee Records: Employee Records is managed by the ASC.
GTRI Recruiting: GTRI's recruiting team is also integrated into the ASC in alignment with Tech's overarching people-focused strategy to provide consistent HR services that support growth across all areas of the Institute including GTRI.

The ASC continues to be focused on improving the administrative experience for staff, faculty and students by providing the single stop for access to administrative resources. We are supported by teams in the areas of Customer Service Excellence, HR Support Service, IT Support Services and Operational Excellence.

Job Summary

This position acts as the HR strategic partner and advisor to senior leadership in assigned unit(s). In collaboration with leadership and the Georgia Tech Office of Human Resources (GTHR), the HR Business Partner is responsible for assessing and anticipating HR-related needs and developing integrated solutions. The position develops partnerships across HR to deliver value-added service to management and employees reflective of unit and Institute-wide objectives. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: leadership, staff, and employee population of assigned unit, central HR leadership and staff.This position typically will advise and counsel: Leadership, staff, and employee population of assigned unit.This position will supervise: May supervise lower level staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Partner with GTHR Talent Acquisition and unit leadership to develop and implement a proactive strategy for recruitment and retention of unit staff

Job Duty 2 -
Collaborate with unit leadership to optimize and advance the business interests of the unit, while advancing the interests and strategic direction of the Institute

Job Duty 3 -
Design and implement professional development programs to address professional growth, training needs, team-building and mentoring to maximize employee satisfaction and productivity

Job Duty 4 -
Create plans to develop talent within the unit and assess development needs; Provide day-to-day performance management guidance

Job Duty 5 -
Facilitate discussions with GTHR Compensation and unit leadership to evaluate compensation; Consult on reclassification, promotion, and other staff compensation changes

Job Duty 6 -
Work closely with management and employees to improve workplace relationships, build engagement, and increase productivity and retention; Provide regular in-depth assessments of potential personnel challenges and root cause analysis.

Job Duty 7 -
Enable engagement and professional growth within the unit by developing tools, resources, training, and communication campaigns to increase employee and manager knowledge and understanding of HR policies and procedures across the Institute

Job Duty 8 -
Represent GTHR in assigned unit and build relationships with unit leadership; Serve as a liaison, connecting GTHR subject matter experts and unit managers, as necessary

Job Duty 9 -
Provide insights around workplace trends and challenges, both internal and external, to enable strategic discussions around people management and organizational effectiveness

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Seven to nine years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
PHR or SPHR certification or other HR certification. Management consulting and previous senior level management experience (or coaching experience of those at the senior management level). Experience as a HR Generalist with a large and complex organization. Some experience in Talent Acquisition, Recruiting, Talent Management, Performance Management, Organizational Design, Compensation Analysis, and Global HR delivery. Also preferred is specific experience with attracting talent within a higher education setting.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires the ability to develop and maintain credibility with senior level managers by demonstrating strong business acumen and a solution focused approach to problem solving, with diplomacy. The job also requires proactive, strategic and innovative thinking, emotional intelligence, effective communication skills and experience using analytics to influence decisions. Experience supervising staff, resolving complex employee relations issues is required as is a working knowledge of applicable workplace laws. Additionally required is a demonstrated history of successfully applying HR consulting, negotiating and influencing skills, as well as techniques and knowledge of HR concepts and best practices.
