The following positions within Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatry, Inpatient Adult Psychiatry, Psychiatric Emergency Services, CARES, and Outpatient Behavioral Health Services are offering the opportunity to enroll in a new program offering a cash incentive to recognize your work treating patients with substance use disorders. This program is sponsored through the ACCESS (Advancing Careers, Competencies, and Equity in Substance Treatment Services) grant. Employees must be >0.6 FTE to be eligible. 50% of the bonus will be received 90 days after signing the program contract.
* Registered Nurses (RNs) may earn up to $7,500 by December 2024
* Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) may earn up to $3,500 by December 2024
* Care Navigators may earn up to $3,500 by December 2024
Job Summary
The Custodian II, under immediate supervision, provides cleaning, bed linen change out, floor care, moving, grounds and project services as directed by supervisor. May also perform specific interior and exterior Medical Housekeeping cleaning duties to maintain a clean and aseptic environment throughout the hospital/clinics. The individual may be assigned to any one of several positions to include: patient area cleaner, non-patient area cleaner, trash technician, special care unit cleaner, and/or others.
Essential Functions:
- May oversee the work of and train the Custodian I workers (10%)
- Gathers and empties trash and linen. (10%)
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and equipment, in order to prevent damage to finishes and fixtures. (10%)
- Uses floor care equipment to strip, seal, finish, and polish floors. Also uses floor care equipment to clean carpet and upholstery. Equipment includes buffers, scrubbers, burnishers, extractors and other related equipment. (10%)
- Transports and appropriately handles trash, recycling, medical waste, linen, and other items to each designated area and maintains waste areas within regulatory standards. (15%)
- Cleans windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees (15%)
- Mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications (15%)
- Change bed linens (15%)
Education:
- No High School Diploma and/or No GED Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safety work environment. Knowledge of chemicals and equipment used to clean surface areas sufficient to be able to maintain a clean and orderly work area. Knowledge of proper cleaning methods.
- Knowledge of and/or ability to learn occasional hazards and safety precautions. Skill in understanding and following oral, illustrated, written or demonstrated instructions. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work within Health Department standards.
- Command of English strongly preferred. Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
