Job Description

The Research Team in the laboratory of Dr. Margaret Lange is pleased to announce an opening for a Senior Research/Laboratory Technician. The Lange Lab is located in the Medical Sciences Building as part of the Department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology within the School of Medicine at the University of Missouri. The goal of the Lange Lab is to make exciting research discoveries while fostering a positive, communicative, supportive and productive research environment.

Key responsibilities for this position will collectively support all research team members and include but are not limited to:

- Day-to-day maintenance of lab reagents, supplies, waste and equipment. This includes keeping records, inventories and stock lists up to date, preparing buffers and various other laboratory infrastructure tasks.

- Performing basic molecular biology techniques including bacterial transformation, isolation and purification of RNA and DNA, amplification of DNA using PCR-based methods and visualization via gel electrophoresis, in vitro transcription and purification of RNA, site directed mutagenesis, cloning and sequencing.

-Protein expression, purification, identification and quantification. Prior experience with SDS-PAGE and western blot would be a benefit.

-Data analysis, data visualization, accurate and organized data storage, presentation of findings to the group and participation in group meetings, including journal club, will be required.

Shift

Shift Type: 8am - 5pm, M-F, one hour for lunch

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field
Years of Experience: 1-2
Niche Professional Interests: Molecular Biology, Biochemistry

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $14.51-$25.33/hour
Grade: GGS-006
