The Assistant Director of Admissions supports the Office of Admission in driving the strategic growth of a high-caliber undergraduate student population at UT Dallas. Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admission and Enrollment, the Assistant Director of Regional Recruitment implements a dynamic regional recruitment strategy focused on increasing the enrollment of high-caliber students at UT Dallas. This position supports enrollment goals by leading a statewide team of regional admission counselors and directly managing recruitment efforts within the Houston area. Primary responsibilities include training and supporting the regional admissions team, advising prospective and admitted students, developing data-driven recruitment strategies, organizing events in Houston and throughout Texas, and building strong partnerships with educational and community organizations. This position also contributes to additional projects as needed, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to regional recruitment.

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience in college admissions, student advising, student recruitment, or related field.
Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience, or Master's degree and three years of related experience.
  • Supervisory experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development

  • Work cohesively with other Assistant Directors on the Undergraduate Admission Team to ensure alignment and consistency in recruitment strategies, events, messaging, operational goals.
  • Ensure effective implementation of prospective student recruitment strategies across diverse territories and empower team members to succeed in their regions; report on progress and outcomes to the Director, offering insights and data-informed recommendations to optimize recruitment strategies.
  • Supervise, mentor, and lead a statewide team of regional admissions counselors, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment that supports UT Dallas undergraduate enrollment goals.
  • Oversee the creation of protocols, implementation, and growth of the UT Dallas regional admissions alumni network, collaborating with regional admissions team to engage alumni in supporting recruitment efforts in Texas and nationally.
  • Prepare and submit budget proposals to support regional recruitment initiatives, events, professional development, and travel for regional admissions team.
  • Design and execute targeted events for prospective and admitted freshman and transfer students, including planning and leading events in the Houston area and collaborating with regional admission counselors to implement similar events throughout Texas and ensure cohesive engagement and outreach to students statewide.
  • Coordinate with vendors and collaborate with the Director of the Visitor Center & Admission Events as well as the internal administrative team to ensure seamless execution of off-site regional events.
  • Actively engage in professional development by participating in state and regional professional associations, staying current on industry trends, and establishing networks that support the growth and effectiveness of the UT Dallas Undergraduate Admissions Team.


Recruitment & Outreach

  • Represent UT Dallas at high school college fairs, transfer fairs, and community engagement events.
  • Provide prospective students and families with accurate and up-to-date information about UT Dallas programs, admission, scholarships, and financial aid, ensuring ethical standards, confidentiality, and FERPA compliance.
  • Advise prospective transfer students on credit transference, articulation, and the application process.
  • Deliver engaging presentations to groups of all sizes, promoting the University's academic offerings, research, and campus life.
  • Coordinate travel, maintain expense records, and organize a range of outreach activities, including workshops, virtual events, school visits, and yield receptions.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and institutional policies, admission criteria, and industry trends to provide comprehensive guidance to prospective students.


Territory Management

  • Develop and oversee a data-informed regional recruitment plan in collaboration with the Director, ensuring alignment with UT Dallas' enrollment goals.
  • Track and report on recruitment activities and outcomes throughout the admissions cycle, using data analysis to refine strategies.
  • Cultivate relationships with high school counselors, school representatives, and community college partners to support prospective student engagement and drive applications for admission to UT Dallas programs.
  • Work with the regional admissions counselors to plan, coordinate, and manage schedules, travel assignments, and recruitment activities to maximize outreach within the territories.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Deliver exemplary customer service to prospective students, families, and internal stakeholders, responding promptly to inquiries and maintaining a respectful, team-oriented environment.
  • Work closely with colleagues and partners to design and implement effective recruitment strategies and actively participate in University and department events both on and off campus.
  • Communicate across various contexts and adapt strategies to meet divergent student needs.
  • Attend all relevant training, meetings, and events to stay current on recruitment best practices and UT Dallas initiatives.

Application Evaluation

  • Conduct full holistic evaluations of credentials for prospective first-time in college and transfer students to support UT Dallas' admissions decisions.
  • Participate in admission committees, offering insights to recommend admission decisions that best serve both the applicant and UT Dallas' enrollment objectives.


Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods frequently throughout the workday;
  • Requires the ability to perform frequent to constant repetitive keyboarding functions to complete work tasks;
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally;
  • Requires the ability to travel by car and plane.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF REGULAR WORK HOURS, INCLUDING EVENING AND WEEKEND TRAVEL.
