Summary of Job Duties:The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology beginning August 2025. The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate is also required to teach in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program. This includes a teaching load of 9 instructional units each semester. Additional information about the Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs can be viewed at the website, https://ualr.edu/engineering. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline (Degree must be from an accredited university). ABD may be considered;

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering programs.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Prior teaching engineering courses;

  • Experience in teaching in a hybrid or on-line environment;

  • Expertise in engineering software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Ansys, LabView, MATLAB;

  • Post-doctoral or industrial experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering and advanced graduate courses in their research areas;

  • Teach courses in areas of Statics, Dynamics, Solid Modeling, Production Systems, Engineering Economy, Quality Control, Manufacturing Process, and Mechanical Engineering labs;

  • Teaching assignments may require teaching day and /or evening classes as needed;

  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students;

  • Supervise graduate research projects;

  • Establish and maintain an externally funded research program that includes the support of graduate and undergraduate students;

  • Be actively engaged in research and professional development - Professional activities include participating in professional meetings and workshops; and establishing appropriate relationships with industry;

  • Serve on program, school, college, and university committees; and engage in other service and research activities;

  • Publish scholarly articles in conference proceedings and technical journals;

  • Assist with activities related to ABET accreditation activities in the school for the Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs;

  • Participation in outreach activities;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology;

  • Demonstrated strong English verbal and written communication skills;

  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multicultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities;

  • Ability to collaborate with existing faculty.
