Hiring Range

The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is $21.65 - $35.92. The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $22.29 - $23.62.

Job Closing Date

Remote/Hybrid eligibility: This position is fully on-site.

2-year contract is eligible for full UC benefits.

About the Job

Under close supervision of higher level Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities professionals, this position is focused on student conduct case management, integrity program development, student rights and responsibility awareness programs, and campus outreach. The Student Conduct Graduate Program Assistant will work with the OSRR staff as a team member to adjudicate student conduct cases, facilitate outreach to students, faculty, and community members, and support student conduct and integrity program initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists higher-level specialists with student conduct case intake, management, adjudication, and follow-up. Provides supervision and support for OSRR student interns and supervises student staff members as assigned.
  • Facilitates workshops and programs in support of OSRR student conduct and integrity initiatives, such as the academic integrity, decision-making, and expressive activities (CCI) workshops. Provide administrative support for OSRR area functions and services.
  • Develops relationships with students and provides support. Refers students in crisis to more advanced student conduct and development professionals, or other student service departments using established protocols and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with campus partners. Conducts outreach to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external organization stakeholders important to program success. Conducts basic assessment and evaluations of workshops, programs, and outreach and summarizes data results.
  • Under close supervision, organizes workshops, meetings, and other activities. Meets regularly with supervisor to review cases, projects, and tasks.
Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited institution or an equivalent experience/training combined.

AND

  • Graduate-level educational experience in student affairs, counseling, psychology, education, social work, human resources, or an equivalent program preferred. (Preferred)

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

  • Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
  • Student Conduct, Integrity Programs, and Conduct Hearing Board experience.
  • Experience working with student organizations such as fraternities and sororities and student clubs.
  • Knowledge of student development theory.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication, written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Basic knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Skills in service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, and facilitation.
