Widener University is currently seeking a Law School Registrar for Delaware Law School. This role reports to the Dean of the Law School and also works closely with the University Registrar and the registrar at Commonwealth Law School. This is a supervisory position in which the incumbent exercises discretion and independent judgment to direct the registration and record-keeping aspects of the School of Law. The incumbent provides support to faculty, administrators, and law students by scheduling course offerings, tracking enrollment, and evaluating the progress of each student toward degree requirements. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to): Administrative Essential duties:
- Completes portions of the ABA Annual Questionnaire regarding enrollment and course information and collects data for the annual ABA Bar Pass Questionnaire.
- Chairs the Commencement Committee, which includes the coordination of the program, diplomas, regalia, etc.
- Serves as a member of the Scholarship Committee for awarding of endowed scholarships.
- Provides curriculum related research support to the Dean's office regarding the curriculum, ABA reporting, and bar passage.
- Works with administrators (especially the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs) and faculty to develop and implement a strategic plan for the curriculum, the academic schedule, and degree program requirements in compliance with the ABA Standards. To support this effort, this role creates, generates, and analyzes a variety of reports related to enrollment, course offerings, grading, student attrition, bar passage, etc.
Registrar Essential Duties:
- Directs the registration and record-keeping aspects of the School of Law and maintains accurate student records.
- Works with administrators and faculty to ensure that students receive appropriate counseling and advice to make informed decisions as they plan their programs of study.
- Assists the Associate/Vice Dean with creating the fall, spring and summer course schedules.
- Manages the registration process for students and oversees the assignment of classrooms.
- Directs course registration process and ensures accuracy and completeness of University system of course listings.
- Assists in providing timely and accurate information regarding law school curricular offerings by coordinating and supervising print and online dissemination of semester schedules and catalog offerings.
- Provides wide-ranging logistical support for the law school academic program by, among other activities, supervising the examination process (e.g., providing anonymous exam numbers and facilitating grading), verifying and processing grades, calculating and distributing class ranks, processing requests for transcripts and other student records, etc.
- Manages examination accommodations for special needs students approved by the Office of Disability Services, all assessments and final exams. This also includes the international students from the GICLS Office.
- Schedule all make up assessments/exams for approved deferrals.
- Verifies student enrollment, academic, and graduation standing for bar admissions purposes.
- Functions as compliance officer for enrollment through NSC and is the VA Certifying Official for the Delaware Campus.
- Supervises and coordinates the work of assigned personnel.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required): Required:
- Bachelor's degree or appropriate combination of education and experience
- Previous experience working in a Registrar's Office or comparable experience in an academic setting
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, as well as attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining student records and processing documents.
- Excellent project-management skills, including experience managing timelines and multiple projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Ellucian Colleague system experience preferred.
- Willingness to become proficient with using AI tools to increase productivity.
- Significant ability to work with teams to accomplish goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to articulate the University's mission and values
- Highly adept at identifying potential issues related to the work of the role, recommending options, and implementing solutions.
Preferred:
- Juris Doctorate Degree
- At least 2 years of experience in related to the above described duties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
- Must be able to routinely sit at desk or table and work on computer for long periods of time (2+ hours), have basic manual dexterity, lift less than 25 lbs., and be mobile between workstation and numerous campus buildings.
- Involves routine standing, walking, and climbing stairs and occasional bending, stooping and/or kneeling.
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Must be flexible to work some nights and weekends.
