Scope of Position

The Clinical Engineering Department coordinates the technical support and maintenance for patient care technology in the OSU Health System. This includes short- and long-term planning, consultation and specification for purchase, installation, training for safe and effective use, review of hazards and recalls, preventive maintenance and repairs. Position Summary The service manager deploys and supervises department resources to meet the service requirements for patient care technology in the OSU Health System. Negotiates service agreements with equipment manufacturers and other contract vendors. Monitors service agreements within the Health System and provides oversight for quality, cost effectiveness, and overall performance. Performs assessments of current patient care technology, evaluates new technologies, consults on purchases and coordinates installations. Develops preventive maintenance procedures and schedules, assigns priorities and distributes workload to the technical staff. Supervises technical staff. Acts as an educational resource for staff. Assures compliance of the medical equipment environment with national codes and standards, including accreditation requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) with emphasis on Biomedical Engineering desirable. Master of Science degree (in related field) is desirable. At least 5 - 8 years' experience in a hospital based Clinical Engineering Department. Certification by the International Certification Commission (ICC) is desirable.
