The High Throughput Screening Core of the Medicinal Chemistry Shared Resource (HTSC-MCSR) of the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center is looking for one Research Associate 1-B/H. This individual will be part of the team conducting operations of HTSC-MCSR and offering high throughput screening services for investigators of the cancer center.

The Research Associate 1-B/H will participate in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory investigating cancer in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and implement goals and objectives of studies

  • Design and execute complex laboratory experiments

  • Perform advanced molecular and cellular techniques

  • Collect, analyze and interpret research data

  • Assist with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques

  • Test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization

  • Assist in establishment of controls, criteria and research standards

  • Perform critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken

  • Assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents

  • Assist principal investigators in preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research

  • Coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory research staff

  • Oversee and coordinate periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment and perform additional duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required, Master's degree is preferred.

  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.

  • Experience in a biological/health science research capacity is preferred.

  • Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
