(Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Exempt II)

Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,537 - $5,900 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,537 - $10,014 per month
  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Interim Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, this position provides coordination for the monitoring and oversight of a broad range of financial and non-financial research compliance and reporting functions which require the analyst to apply federal, state and university regulations, policies and guidelines.

Key Qualifications
  • Knowledge and skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and recommendations.
  • Thorough knowledge of related policies, procedures, and regulations including pre-award grant proposal development, and post-award administration processes.
  • Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques.
  • Knowledge of computer office systems and ability to use a broad range of technology, systems, and software packages.
  • Skill/Ability to:
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication style to varying audiences; ability to compose clear and detailed correspondence, reports and guidance to researchers as well as federal agencies.
    • Excellent organizational skills; ability to organize and plan workload and projects including the handling of multiple priorities while making independent decisions and exercising sound judgment.
    • Skills, abilities, and knowledge of research and compliance with a full understanding of industry practices and procedures to apply federal, state, and university regulations, policies, and guidelines, and promote best practices.
    • Skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
    • Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications.
    • Take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
    • Anticipate problems and address them proactively.
    • Train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information.
    • Ability to make constructive recommendations for modifications or improvements of methods, procedures, techniques, technology or programs.
    • Collaborate with others to help advance the goals of the department and university. Show courtesy and respect towards others and promote a positive and service oriented collegial work environment.
    • Interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and in a team-oriented environment.

Education and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of professional administrative work experience involving study, analysis and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs.
    • Preferred Skills:
      • Experience with web-based research and compliance administration systems.
      • Master's degree in Science or related area.
      • Five years of administrative/program experience in research administration, research compliance and/or research ethics.
      • Knowledge and skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and recommendations.
      • Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to a Research and Graduate Studies program.
