Job Overview:
Ensures that quality age-appropriate nursing care is delivered to all patients on his/her nursing unit in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital. Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education. Evaluates staff performance in accordance with organizational policies. Participates in nursing quality assurance. Performs scheduling and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Uses and understand of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care. Insure that the department is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulation.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Minimum of 2-4 year s acute nursing experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational ability and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in area standards
  • Completion of all orientation requirements of CBMC
  • Successful completion of all orientation programs

Preferred:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • NRP certification from the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-time
  • Night shift
  • 37.5 hrs. weekly
  • 6:30PM - 7:30AM

Essential Functions:
Integrates department s services with the hospital s primary functions, develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of clinical services. Determines the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners. Directs patient care in manner which ensures that; Standards of patient care and regulatory agencies are met; the nursing process forms the basis for delivery of patient care, and that patients, significant others and associates are treated with dignity, respect and compassion.

When delegating or accepting a task, clarifies instructions, and arranges for appropriate resources and support. Ensures staffing levels meet patient requirements. Adheres to requirements for review of corporation and facility manuals and demonstrates compliance with these and other policy directives.

Promotes staff effectiveness/competency through goal setting, role modeling and provision of learning opportunities. Participates in on-going education (e.g., in-services, continuing education, etc.) to seek out and apply new professional and technical concepts, seeks additional certifications as appropriate.

Develops/revises plan for patient care delivery in assigned areas. Identifies and corrects actual/potential problems. Ensures the provision of Patient Family education.
