What You Will Do:

This position supports Supply Chain collaboration initiatives for major retailers. L'Oreal CPD is looking for a passionate and focused business intelligence data engineer to join the Customer Supply Chain team, responsible for enterprise analytics solutions. This role is responsible for managing an analytics workspace to support the broader customer team in providing practical and actionable insights on L'Oreal top retailers, behaviors, and key performance metrics including in store and online availability, phantom inventory, and store tiers. This role will effectively leverage SQL, Power BI, and Excel to build, extract, analyze and visualize data from various customer portals to better understand our performance and our opportunities to drive consumption, maximize productive inventory, and reduce returns.

In order to achieve the above the position will be responsible for:

  1. Develop and implement data governance frameworks: Define policies, standards, and procedures for data management across ten large retailers including store and sku level data. Support the evolution of customer analytics with the development of new tools and initiatives.
  2. Establish and monitor data quality metrics: Identify key data quality indicators, implement data profiling and monitoring processes, and track progress against defined targets. Support the maintenance of retailer by sku, by store data, regularly monitoring and ensuring accuracy of the data and all data tables, and facilitating any corrections as needed.
  3. Drive data quality improvement initiatives: Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to identify and remediate data quality issues, recommending process changes and implementing automated data quality checks.
  4. Foster a data-driven culture: Promote data literacy throughout the organization, providing training and support to business users on data governance principles, data quality practices, and data utilization. Proactively provide analysis and insights that aim to gain a deeper understanding of the L'Oreal customers, shifts in behavior, and opportunities.
  5. Recommend and execute new analytical approaches that increase our visibility around store inventory, store tier performance, and phantom inventory. Support the implementation and integration of new tools and solutions with customer data
  6. Research and plan implementation of future data sources, building development models for testing, and planning UAT as data sources evolve
  7. Partnership with Shared Data Doman leads and other IT teams, leveraging division agnostic databases where possible
  8. Stay abreast of industry trends: Keep current with emerging data management technologies, best practices, and regulatory changes.

What We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7-10 years' experience in a strategy & analytics-focused role
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks and data quality management programs.
  • Experience working with enterprise cloud databases, data analytics, working with large data sets and ideally writing complex SQL/GBQ queries
  • Experience working with data visualization tools and creating data visualization concepts. (Excel, Tableau, Microsoft Power Bi, Looker or similar)
  • SAP system experience preferred
  • Experience analyzing performance data and summarizing / communicating findings via reports and presentations
  • Proactive and results oriented thinker who would flourish in an entrepreneurial environment where new ideas are championed
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling techniques, data integration methodologies, and retailer data complexities.
  • Prior experience in Beauty, or CPG industries a plus
