The Role

As we continue to grow as one QuidelOrtho we are seeking a Stockroom Team Leader for Assay Manufacturing Operations, located in Rochester, NY.

As part of a centralized group you will lead the Assay Manufacturing stockroom in all of its functions and will report directly to the Central Service Group Manager. These functions include, quoting, purchasing, spare parts inventory management and leading the stockroom staff. Under limited supervision completes or coordinates the completion of all stockroom functions. Will provide spare parts advice to engineering and management and train other employees on items relating to the stockroom.

As the leader of the Stockroom, this position will include ownership and responsibility for the annual Indirect Materials Budget for the Assay Manufacturing Operation. This includes the following:

  • Accountability for the annual Assay Mfg. Indirect Materials Spending budget (~$12MM)
  • Establish governance & tracking around PO issuance to align with annual budgets.
  • Partner with Finance to establish a detailed indirect spending reporting structure.

In addition, with oversight from Central Service Group Manager, this position will be responsible for the administrative responsibilities for the Stock Room team including Performance Reviews, establishment of annual goals and related reviews, payroll, vacation tracking, and 1:1 discussion with team members. This person will work as part of a team of Operations, Engineering and Maintenance personnel and therefore must thrive in a cross-functional collaborative environment.

This position is in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities

Required:

  • Responsible for ordering parts, confirming orders, and monitoring delivery times.

  • Forecasting parts needs to maintain optimal inventory levels.

  • Monitor, maintain and control current parts inventory and obsolescence.

  • Receiving parts, placing them into inventory, label and distribution as required.

  • Overseen inspection of parts for damage, quality, and accuracy. Return and re-order any damaged or incorrect parts.

  • Helping customers find and purchase the correct parts.

  • Oversee special orders. Works with team to address emergency purchases and repairs.

  • Coordinates the collection, packaging, shipping, and receiving of parts that are ordered or sent to an outside vendor for repair.

  • Keep work area clean and well organized.

  • Collaborating with service managers to ensure all parts are available for repair jobs. Partner with Manufacturing leadership to provide oversight for Indirect Materials Spending

  • Document inventory changes and work activities via a Computerized Maintenance Management System, as well as completing various other computer-related tasks (time reporting, document management, on-line training). Captures and documents all relevant stockroom spare parts data per department procedures.

  • Creates and owns purchase orders to obtain supplies, parts, and repair services.

  • Issue POs for all orders/purchases at time of order, assuring correct invoicing. Monitor purchase orders (POs) through lifecycle.

  • Provide back up support to buyer and attendant as needed.

  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next level.

  • Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.

  • Responsible for managing Spare Parts Crib spend across multiple locations.

  • Supervise the stockroom team to deliver site goals to our customers both internal and external.

  • Run weekly meeting to review weekly spend, root cause analysis on stock outs, stock vs spot buys, capital PO's and savings opportunities.

  • Train, improve upon process/procedures, etc. as needed/as applicable.

  • Provide reports/analysis to individual budget owners that drive the indirect materials spending.

  • Partner with Departmental Budget Owners to create annual indirect spending budgets "from the bottom up".

  • Models the QuidelOrtho Leadership Attributes. Provides feedback and coaching on behaviors that support these competencies.

  • Encourages the highest quality of workmanship and customer satisfaction.

  • Provides feedback, both corrective and reinforcing of positive behaviors and results.

The Individual
  • High school diploma required, Associates / Certification in related trade or apprenticeship preferred.

  • 5+ years' experience of hands-on relative experience related to stockroom and manufacturing support and/or training; OR AA Degree and 2 years of experience working in stockroom or warehouse environment.

  • High level of mechanical/electrical aptitude relating to spare parts identification and purchasing.

  • Detailed experience with quality management systems (ISO-9001, ISO-1430, MIL-STD-790, etc) and FDA regulated industry highly desirable.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment with both salaried and hourly personnel to meet the needs of the department, manufacturing, and the business.

  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with team members to complete department tasks and Company goals.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and drive results for the team driving team goals.

  • Hands on approach with all teams to initiate and drive success.

  • Highly motivated, self-starter with an ability to meet deadlines.

  • Computer skills to include: Microsoft Office, Maintenance CMMS systems.(Maximo experience a plus)

  • Experience with Lean manufacturing methodologies is a considered a plus.

  • Capable of lifting (25 pounds)

Key Working Relationship

Internal Partners: Manufacturing Operations and other product release laboratories: PAR (Performance Assignment and Release), Reference; Product Support, R&D, Complaint Handling Unit and Customer Technical Services.

External Partners: Suppliers

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing and laboratory, environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. Up to 50% of time in meetings, working with team; 50% of the time at the desk on computer, walking, standing, or sitting extended periods of time, doing analytical work are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position requires use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.
