Summary
Ensures that standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness and performance are met throughout all engineering activities. Engineering, design, implementation and day to day operations of supervisory control systems (SCADA/EMS), networks, communications and machine control systems (PLC/DCS/HMI/RTU) in support of NYPA G&T assets. #LI-VB1
Responsibilities
- Provide lead engineer function in support of a limited range of control system design implementation and modification projects, and operations and maintenance activities/practices.
- Perform field visits to complete field inspections, condition assessments, and equipment evaluations and develop basic technical recommendations
- Implement and execute NERC CIP and cyber securities policies, procedures, and technical solutions
- Select and apply codes, standards, and procedures to work tasks appropriately. Independently coordinate cross disciplinary activities for the successful development and execution of projects.
- Provide direction and review in the development of project engineering documents and submittals.
- Must be able to provide 24/7 on-call support to operating facilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Competency in the design, operation, and maintenance of Operations Technology control systems specific to the electric utility industry.
- Fundamental knowledge of Operations Technology control systems and their components.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative and team-oriented with ability to build relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations, and complete specifications, scopes of work, reports, and interdisciplinary design packages.
- Ability to coordinate the technical and commercial aspects of projects.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Physical ability to navigate industrial sites, which may include climbing, bending, or working in confined spaces.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of five (5) years related work experience.
- Preferred certifications include: NY State Engineer in Training certification and/or certifications in Computer Science/Operations Technology
- Valid Driver's License
Physical Requirements
- Approximately 20% travel primarily within NY State
- Must be able to provide 24/7 on-call support to operating facilities.
