THE POSITION

It oversees a vast network of dining establishments, retail food outlets, and food production facilities throughout the state, ensuring that they adhere to stringent food safety laws and standards. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Inspector 2, your responsibilities will include performing sanitation evaluations of seasonal agricultural labor camps and various food establishments, which encompass wholesale, retail, manufacturing, and warehousing operations within designated regional territories.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position may require travel and overtime.
  • Position will be home headquartered if candidate lives in Luzerne, Wyoming, or Susquehanna County. If candidate does not live in Luzerne, Wyoming, or Susquehanna County the state vehicle will be parked in one of those counties.
  • The selected candidate will need to travel to counties other then those listed on this posting to assist with coverage of various specialty inspection types, specifically Dairy and Milk regulated facilities.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Food Inspector 1, Agriculture (commonwealth title); or
  • Two years of experience in the inspection of food establishments or food processing facilities, and a bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
