POSITION DESCRIPTION: Plasma Spray Intermediate
Purpose/ Summary
To perform all the aspects necessary for the grit blasting and plasma spraying of Turbine Engine components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Proficient at masking and surface preparation of parts for grit blasting and plasma spraying.
* Proficient in the operation of equipment such as but not limited to the grit blasters, six (6) axis robot plasma unit, plasma torch, plasma hand control unit, plasma programming computer, robot manipulator, gas control equipment, air cleaning equipment, powder feeding equipment, heat exchanger and rectifier.
* Proficient in the proper use and maintenance of grit blasting equipment such as but not limited to grit blasters and glass bead machine.
* Learn programming of the six (6) axis robot plasma unit, heat exchanger and rectifier.
* Analyze and correct faulty equipment and/or flow settings.
* Establish spray process techniques of complex parts.
* Produce micrographic samples and interpret laboratory results to specific standards.
* Modify manufacturers plasma parameters to obtain satisfactory laboratory results.
* Maintain record log books for quality control.
* Write computer programs for robot manipulator and trouble-shoot programs, taking corrective action as needed.
* Read and use calibrated tooling and equipment such as but not limited to vernier calipers, height gages, pi-tapes, plug gages, go/no go gages and micrometers.
* Know and use proper grit blasting and plasma spraying terminology.
* Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude.
* Fully understands and follows the Plasma Tech plan requirements for production assignments.
* Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The job has no supervisory responsibilities; however, the employee under the supervision of the Master Level Plasma Operator will assist with the training of other employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) to five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Numeric equipment and programming experience is required.
