Overview:

  • Responsible for duties involved in security protection, to include but not limited to protection of all property, equipment, patients, visitors, and staff.
  • He/she must have the capabilities for other duties which are critical to security and public relations.
  • The Public Safety Officer performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, guiding principles and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensure: Class E driver's license required within the first 90 days of employment.
Experience: None required.
Certifications: Must be willing to obtain the following certifications: IAHSS Certification and Taser Certification.
Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Must be 21 years of age. Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Must be in excellent physical condition. Conditioning standards are set by Employee Health.

Equipment Used: Handcuffs, Jumper cables, Air tank, AED, Radios, Security vehicles and Emergency lights. Knowledge: Required training including, but not limited to AED, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, MANDT, MRI Safety, Use of Force, Crisis Prevention, Tactical Communications, active shooter, building search.

Preferred Experience: Prefer prior Military Police, Military, Law Enforcement, or Security.
