Provides effective, consistent servant leadership to the Divisional Gordon Food Service (GFS) Replenishment and Inventory team. Leads, builds and develops a team who leads the day to day inbound replenishment and inventory activities for GFS US Distribution Centers. Responsible for managing all replenishment, vendor/item validation and maintenance processes and drives continuous improvement for right sizing inventory for the assigned US Distribution Center.Collaborates with internal functional disciplines to ensure high levels of service (in stock %) to our customers as well as optimization of inventory and minimizing product loss.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops the vision for the team as well as implements standard practices for inventory management.

  • Refines and executes strategies to drive efficiencies in network solutions related to divisional liquidation management, slot management, discontinued inventory, recycle inventory, out of stock, and overall service profile to our customers.

  • Represents GFS divisional replenishment planners, local buyers and inventory specialists in collaboration across multiple departments and projects.

  • Implements new distribution points within the GFS network for broadline distribution.

  • Initiates changes designed to improve control and efficiency of replenishment planners and inventory specialists.

  • Develops and establishes metrics for measurement of team performance, recognize accomplishments, set targets for improvement, and communicate the key objectives and goals.

  • Collaborates with the Supply Chain Planning Leadership teams on a regular basis regarding capacity planning, marketing intelligence, seasonal planning, etc.

  • Ensures relevant data and analytics are provided to regional merchandising managers to assist in category management decisions and to maximize overall slot profitability.

  • Build and maintain a strong supplier/customer base with positive relationships. This also includes development and maintenance of relationships with potential back-up suppliers.

  • Interact with Demand Planning, Marketing, and Sales organizations to review forecasts for product demand, as well as with Operations to not only support inbound requirements, but also to optimize inventory levels/costs and freight efficiencies.

  • Manages the budget for the divisional Replenishment and Inventory Teams

  • Assists in hedging and forward buy opportunities relating to inventory management.

  • Interviews, hires, trains and retains staff. Conducts performance reviews for direct reports, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources.

  • Provides ongoing training and development for direct reports.

  • May perform the duties of those they supervise when needed.

  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars, etc. Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas.

  • Adheres to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.

  • Promote a positive image and develop strong professional networking connections to the benefit of Gordon Food Service.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Project Management: Leads large and small initiatives on time to define new processes and resolve business problems, collaborate across multiple organizational groups and levels within the business.

  • Human Relations: ability to lead the team and interact with leaders in other departments/roles, develop relationships, etc. Able to lead meetings and manage the responsibility of following up with collaborating team members.

  • Communication: excellent written, verbal, organizational and communication skills. This role will communicate with all levels of the organization including Directors, General Managers and Senior leaders.

  • Supply Chain Management: knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.

  • Self Management: self directed with ability to deal with distraction, repetition, prioritization, fluctuations in workload, ambiguity, etc.

  • Time Management: ability to multitask, prioritize and execute efficient work processes.

  • Customer Service: knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. The ability to provide excellent customer service to our internal customers.

  • Problem Solve:- the ability to solve problems and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems by comparing, classifying, innovating, analyzing, coordinating, etc. Identifying root cause analysis by utilizing best practices and innovation. May refer to established precedents and policies.

  • Product and Category: advanced knowledge of supply chain principles and techniques for highly perishable products.

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel functions and Google applications. Must be extremely organized, analytical and possess highly developed written/oral communication, management, training and interpersonal skills.

  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills, including knowledge of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages).

  • The ability to delegate to help with efficiencies and provide development opportunities for the team.

  • Proactive in identifying and resolving issues with minimal direction while keeping management informed in areas of importance.

  • Four or more years in Foodservice distribution, supply chain management, or logistics, including two years of leadership experience preferred.
