Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Program Assistant for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under direction, the Program Assistant assists with course content development and administrative activities in support of the Training in Research Undergraduate Experience through the Rutgers Addiction Research Center (
TRUE
RARC) Scholar Program. The
TRUE
RARC Scholar program aims to enhance diversity among the next generation of addiction researchers by providing Rutgers undergraduates addiction research coursework, internship opportunities, and professional development.
The Program Assistant will provide administrative and program support to the Principal Investigator, Danielle Dick, the Program Coordinator, Jesse Liss, and other professional staff. This flexible position primarily assists Dr. Liss with developing content for the Data Science & Addiction Research I and II courses, with additional support provided to the administration of the training program.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Provides administrative support for the Program Coordinator in carrying out the Training in Research Undergraduate Experience through the Rutgers Addiction Research Center (TRUE RARC) Scholar Program.
- Manages the training program's email account to respond to participant questions.
- Develops slide decks for Data Science & Addiction I and II undergraduate courses.
- Supports the student recruitment cycle. This includes tracking and reviewing applications and supporting with acceptance decisions.
- Creates datasets, tests, exercises, and assignments for Data Science & Addiction I and II undergraduate courses.
- Prepares and/or compiles data for comprehensive reports and analyses, presentations, monthly activity reports, program evaluations and official correspondence. Responds to inquiries as directed and distributes informational materials according to University policy and practice.
- Makes appointments and schedules meetings.
- Evaluates office procedures, establishes standards, and recommends and implements new or modified procedures as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree plus one (1) year of related administrative experience in an organization, business office, government agency or university setting required.
- Applicants lacking the degree may substitute appropriate related experience on a year-for-year basis.

- Proficient in Powerpoint or similar presentation tools.
- Ability to complete assignments with great attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

- Ability to work well and communicate professionally with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing, and driving. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert up to 15 pounds.
- Work Environment: As a per diem position, this position is flexible. The Program Assistant will work directly with the Program Coordinator to determine their schedule. Hours will vary each week according to workload. Hours may increase over time as required by program growth.
