MSU Denver enrolls over 16,000 students, where nearly 60% are rst generation and over 55% are students of color. About the Department of Economics

The Department of Economics at MSU Denver provides students with a valuable economic education through diverse courses and opportunities. Our teaching-focused faculty are committed to meeting students' interests and career goals through classroom instruction, reading and discussion colloquia, events, and internships. While prioritizing teaching, our faculty also actively engage in research, publishing on a wide range of policy-relevant topics including immigration, national defense, foreign policy, marijuana legalization, environmental economics, and institutional mechanisms to improve women's welfare.

Position Summary

The AACSB-accredited College of Business at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of Economics to begin Fall 2025. Preferred candidates will have teaching and research interests in at least one of these areas of specialization: monetary economics, money and banking, macroeconomics, law and economics, public choice, or public finance.

Qualified candidates who possess a commitment to excellence in teaching, student advising, professional development/scholarship, intellectual contributions, and service in an inclusive and diverse environment are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities of the position include a commitment to excellence in:

  • Teaching 12 credits; teaching assignments may include online courses
  • Student advising
  • Scholarly activities to maintain MSU Denver College of Business' Scholarly Active status (https://www.msudenver.edu/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/College-of-Business-Faculty-Qualifications-Policy.pdf)

The successful candidate must have a desire to work with a diverse student body, to increase student retention and success, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • ABD in Economics or PhD in Economics

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Economics with evidence of teaching excellence and a record of recent refereed publications
  • Preferred candidates will have teaching and research interests in at least one of these areas of specialization: monetary economics, money and banking, macroeconomics, law and economics, public choice, or public finance

Salary for Announcement

The salary for this position is $90,000 annually at the Lecturer level.
