Job Summary

As an Engineer I, the successful candidate will be responsible for design, development, modification, and analysis of semiconductor and packaging processes and products/devices. The role involves process troubleshooting as well as collaboration with other team members on new process development. The applicant shall have experience in several of the following areas: solvent clean and etch, plating, paints and coatings, adhesive selection, failure analysis, mechanical and optical dimensional measurements, interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings, and familiarity with motion controls and vision systems.

Job Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and diagnoses problems with existing processes or products, and makes modifications or improvements as needed.
  • Compiles and evaluates process or product designs and test data.
  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems, equipment, and sustaining activities for Infrared Detector packaging operations.
  • Evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or processes.
  • Experience with semiconductor packaging practices and processes.
  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems and/or subsystems.
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.
  • Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress.
  • Experience in chemical and physical properties testing to include failure analyses and techniques (e.g. SEM, Auger, FTIR)
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret GD&T
  • Proficiency with electronic instruments and test equipment
  • Familiarity with analytical methods; ability to follow a DOE precisely and make sound decisions when deviations are identified.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Ceramics Engineering field with 0-2+ years applicable engineering experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret clearance, which requires US citizenship
  • Designs, develops, analyzes, documents, and supports testing of products, systems or subsystems.
  • Reviews customer specifications and requirements, and develops designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable.
  • Specifies and evaluates supplier components, subsystems, and services.
  • Supports the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements.
  • Develops prototypes to retire key development risks.
  • Communicates clearly with other company personnel and the customer as required.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Provides regular reporting of progress and status.
  • Knowledge of solvent clean and wet etch applications.
  • Supports and participates in technical activity.
  • Able to work in Class 100 Clean Room.

  • Knowledge of vacuum systems and principles
  • Experience with plating practices
  • Experience in solvent clean and wet etch practices
  • Experience/familiarity with digital cameras and microscopes
  • Experience with infrared imaging systems and opto-mechanical design
  • Structural and Thermal FEA modeling experience
  • Electronics packaging experience
  • Statistical Process Control
