Investment Management is a critical function within our organization, engaging with stakeholders such as the board of directors, senior management, regulators, and credit rating agencies. This exciting investment management role is an immersion into the world of portfolio management, from an accounting, market, securities, and entity level perspective.

As an Associate Investment Analyst , you will contribute to the analysis, reporting, accounting and compliance monitoring of UnitedHealth Group's investment portfolios, individual securities, and regulated entities. A successful candidate will show eagerness to solve complex problems, address potential issues and take on new challenges. You will
support the investment management leaders in research, analysis, outside advisor oversight, by leveraging investment systems. In addition, you will establish and/or maintain effective working relationships throughout the organization, both at the corporate level and within the businesses to ensure access to information required to optimally manage each entities investment portfolio. Additionally, you will be involved in reporting requirements, utilizing tools such as Bloomberg PORT and PowerBI.

If you are located in Eden Prairie, you will have the flexibility to work remotely*, as well as work in the office as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Understand UnitedHealth Group's (UHG) investment policies and guidelines and their applicability to relevant UHG entities, portfolios, and outside advisors
  • Understand the different mandates and investment strategies for each portfolio
  • Provide analytical support across investment systems and reporting applications
  • Assist in developing, automating, and refining reporting deliverables across the team
  • Support investment managers and accountants in the preparation of GAAP, Call Report and Statutory reporting with the potential of working with outside auditors and regulators
  • Update existing models and reports using internally approved methodologies and processes
  • Coordinate inputs from many sources while managing tight deadlines and priorities
  • Identify, propose, and implement areas of improvement to create efficiencies in both investment and accounting processes
  • Help with compliance reporting across external managers
  • Provide research and recommendations to special projects as needed
  • Review securities purchased for adherence to portfolio guidelines and credit metrics

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Actuarial Science or significantly related field
  • Experience in investment management, trading, or related field
  • Experience with Bloomberg and PowerBI (or related application)
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), with the ability to leverage these tools for reporting and analysis
  • Proven solid financial or investment acumen and analytical (quantitative and qualitative) and problem-solving skills
  • Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment, balancing the structure of monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines with the dynamic nature of financial markets and business conditions



Preferred Qualification:



  • CFA or progress towards the CFA designation
