Summary:

The Controller - Manufacturing will have primary responsibility on operational financial accounting tasks and reporting for assigned Trident onshore seafood processing facilities in Alaska. The Controller will provide financial leadership for our operational teams and support continuous improvement and cost savings projects. This position is based in Trident Seafoods' Support Center in Seattle, WA. with periodic travel to our Alaskan shore plants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides financial decision support for onshore plant management, operational excellence teams, and other key stakeholders to support sound financial and operational decision making.
  • Responsible for completion of accounting for assigned operations including production order settlement, spend review, accrual posting, and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Ensures accuracy of financial reports and integrity of labor and overhead cost allocations across our product forms through standard costing and variance issuance during our monthly close process.
  • Conducts PPV analysis/issuance to inventory and COGS across all finished product forms.
  • Monitors and analyzes trends in labor and overhead spending, production volume and mix, and material usage.
  • Collaborates with operational leadership to complete annual labor and overhead budgets.
  • Executes regulatory reporting, tax returns, and supports internal and external audit requests for assigned operations.
  • Provides financial support and analysis on ad-hoc projects as assigned for strategic project initiatives and other business development opportunities.
  • Supports engineering and operations with capital planning, including payback analysis on all capital expenditure proposals.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $100,000to $125,000.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance/accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Ability to travel to Alaska up to 10% of the time for 1 to 2 weeks
  • Previous experience in cost accounting and strong knowledge of cost accounting and standard cost principles
  • Experience with ERP (SAP Preferred) cost and inventory accounting, overhead planning and reporting, and Power BI.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, CPA, and/or CMA
  • Food industry experience
  • Strong Financial Analysis skills
  • Experience in a standard costing environment
  • Experience with SAP Controlling (CO), MM, EWM, and SCM functionality
  • SAP Softproviding Meat (MSG) experience highly valued
  • LEAN Manufacturing experience

Work environment:

This job takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and has moderate noise.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly sits for long periods of time using a computer, is required to stand and walk; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch. May occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.
