General Purpose of Job: Responsible for the oversight and strategic management of outreach laboratory services, including Outreach Phlebotomy, Client Services, and Forensic Pathology. This position will lead a dedicated team, build an engaged workforce, and ensure the highest quality of laboratory services for outreach clients. The Outreach Laboratory Manager will collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders, including the Lab IT team, to resolve issues, drive continual improvement, and achieve financial and operational goals. - Build, manage, and motivate an engaged, high-performing workforce across Outreach Phlebotomy, Client Services, and Forensic Pathology.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages professional development and continuous improvement.
- Coach and mentor team members to develop leadership skills and improve job performance.
- Develop and implement Quality Improvement (QI) plans that align with organizational goals and improve the quality of services provided.
- Analyze workflow, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements for optimal laboratory operations.
- Lead root cause analysis for operational challenges and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Outreach Laboratory and external clients.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and addressing any service-related concerns.
- Coordinate outreach lab services to meet client-specific requirements while adhering to regulatory guidelines.
- Act as the liaison between the Outreach Laboratory and the Lab IT team to resolve technical issues affecting outreach operations.
- Work collaboratively with IT to implement and optimize laboratory information systems (LIS) for better service delivery and client satisfaction.
- Participate in IT projects and system upgrades to improve Outreach Laboratory functionality.
- Monitor and manage the Outreach Laboratory budget, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational financial goals.
- Analyze financial performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to increase revenue and reduce costs.
- Work with senior leadership to enhance the financial performance of the Outreach Laboratory by optimizing resources, increasing operational efficiency, and identifying new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and external clients to enhance the quality of outreach lab services and maintain client satisfaction.
- Implement best practices to ensure the Outreach Laboratory consistently delivers accurate, timely, and reliable results.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational efficiency, service quality, and financial performance.
- Track and analyze client feedback to make data-driven decisions that enhance services.
- Ensure the Outreach Laboratory maintains compliance with regulatory standards, including CAP (College of American Pathologists), CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments), and NAME (National Association of Medical Examiners).
- Participate in survey preparation and external audits to ensure the lab meets or exceeds regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Implement corrective action plans as needed to address findings from inspections and audits, ensuring timely resolution and continual readiness for future inspections.

Education |
* Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, forensics, criminal justice or related field OR Associate Degree in medical laboratory science, forensics, criminal justice and 5 years' experience in a hospital laboratory setting with progressive leadership experience OR High School Diploma and 8 years' experience in a hospital laboratory setting with progressive leadership experience. |
