General Purpose of Job: Supervises the daily functions and work activities within the SOS department to ensure quality service to the patients, visitors and staff. Ensures that quality and performance standards are maintained at all Sparrow facilities. Oversees development and implementation of projects within the SOS department. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Supervise, train, mentor and motivate the Support Operation Services Caregivers to achieve maximum performance, teamwork and continuous quality improvement.
- Responsible to see that all work assignments are carried out properly, safely and completely within the allotted time schedule set by the director.
- Assure that quantity and quality of work meets all standards.
- Create an atmosphere that supports and encourages high performance, teamwork and continued improvement.
- Assist the SOS Managers in hiring and disciplining of SOS caregivers as necessary. Completes Caregiver performance appraisals.
- Aid in performing some Caregivers duties, as occasion may require.
- On a daily basis, makes walking rounds in all work areas to maintain contact with customers and Caregivers and promote teamwork within the department.
- Maintains Caregiver record as specified in the Human Resources Policies/Procedures and the UAW Contract.
- Ensures compliance with Sparrow Health System Safety and Infection Control Policies and Procedures.

Work Experience |
* Minimum of 1 year experience in a leadership position * Minimum of 1 year experience in EPIC * Minimum of 1 year experience in Versus (RFID) program |
Education |
* Associates degree in business or relevant field or High School Diploma/GED and three years direct work experience in Supply Chain, Environmental Services, Linen and Laundry or Transport Services. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrated problem solving skills. * Knowledge of proper body mechanics. * Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office program suite. * Must be able to ambulate throughout all campuses. * Ability to drive to all campuses. * Planning, organizing, and effective time management skills. * General management skills/service orientation. * Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels of Caregivers, work orientation consistent with Sparrow values, stress positively, and demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve problems. * Knowledge of TJC, HCAHPS, (AOA), Public Health, Waste Management, OSHA regulations. Preferred. * Working knowledge of United States Postal Service regulations and hospital equipment. Preferred. |
