ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP is hiring Mechanics to join our Operations Services team located at our Fort Liberty Facility in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This position is onsite.

The Mechanic position centers around a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment and systems. The Mechanic provides technical understanding of and practical experience with the distribution, production, and components associated with multiple electrical, motor, water, air, heating and cooling systems. Mechanics will operate, maintain, and perform repairs on all equipment and systems in the plants. This individual will be responsible for following safety programs for all facility activities and equipment, as well as assisting and maintaining trouble call procedures for facilities. This position requires working an 8hr shift, weekend and possible holidays, and be available for call-in work.

The essential functions of the position include:



  • Operate, maintain, and perform basic repair on most equipment and systems in the plant
  • Apply technical understanding of and practical experience with the operation of distribution, production and components associated with:

    • Hot water, chilled water, electrical motors, paralleling switch gear, motor control centers, condenser systems, variable frequency drives, reciprocating engines, generators, compressed air and compressors, pumps, chillers, air handlers, boilers, cooling towers, pneumatic and low voltage control systems


  • Performs preventative maintenance procedures to assure the plant equipment is in good working condition
  • Completes all Company and Regulatory training including computer-based training
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis as required
  • Train other plant personnel, as appropriate, and cross train with others to ensure maximum plant readiness
  • Operate Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) equipment
  • Start-up activities including trouble shooting
  • Maintain tracking for long-term performance evaluations and adherence to baseline requirements

    • Safety training; lock out/tag out
    • SDS administration
    • Follow proper procedure for all maintenance activities


  • Assist and maintain establishment of maintenance and work order procedures for the facility that effectively communicate problems and recommend a course of action
  • Enforce all safety requirements including, but not limited to:

    • Issues work permits in compliance with safe work practices and ensures contractor safety
    • Perform random security inspections and various security checks around the plants
    • Perform Lockout/Tagout of all facility equipment
    • Work in confined spaces and perform confined space entry
    • Wear a Fall Protection when conditions require
    • Operate a man lift or scissor lift and forklift safely
    • Always use appropriate PPE
    • Above all work safely and comply with all OSHA regulations
    • Maintain a clean and orderly work area (requiring cleaning of non-office areas and maintaining the cleanliness of the Control Rooms and plants)


  • Orders/purchases materials and supplies as required
  • Performs material receipt, storage, and handling functions safely and process receiving documents in accordance with CMMS operation procedures
  • Maintain preventative and repair work records and logs in the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (including processing inventory transactions for work orders via the CMMS)
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by management
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record


Your background includes:



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two to five (2-5) years of Mechanic experience


A bonus to have:



  • Associate's degree (AA or AS) or technical degree
  • Six to eight (6-8) years' related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
