Posting Summary |
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Research Project Assistant.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Provides routine and nonroutine information and data explanations to NPSC's community partner organizations.
- This position requires minimum skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and/or data analysis to perform place-based data analyses in support of NPSC's Data-Informed Community Engagement (DICE) programs and activities.
- Maintains an updated list of partners' contact information and collaborates with other NPSC staff members on event planning and scheduling
- Attends and actively participates in community meeting discussions and shares data and analysis explanations with community partner organizations.

Work Arrangement |
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- The position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- It requires intermediate to advanced GIS and MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) skills. The ability to disseminate information clearly and concisely, be flexible and adapt to changing needs and time pressures, and build strong relationships with community partners.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Preferred certification and/or proven experience using Risk Terrain Modeling (RTM).
- Preferred experience of 2 to 5 years conducting outreach, community engagement, or case management.
- Resides in the City of Newark or within close proximity.
