Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist V (Trenton, NJ) within the Office of the Director/Cancer Epidemiology Services/New Jersey State Cancer Registry at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The primary role of the Research Teaching Specialist V (
RTS V) position, under the supervision of the ResearchTeaching Specialist I (
RTS 1) or Supervising Research Scientist (
SRS), is to perform research activities utilizing data from the NewJersey State Cancer Registry (
NJSCR). Performs work requiring application of standard research techniques and procedures. Position will be located in Trenton, NJ with occasional travel to New Brunswick, NJ.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
- Performs various tasks in the conduct of epidemiological research, including subject recruitment, case validation, interviewing, and study database maintenance.
- Participates as needed in IRB protocol application, submission, modification process to ensure compliance and continuity to study management.
- Coordinates study mailings and other study communication materials.
- Effectively participates in research study meetings.
- Participates in the evaluation of existing procedures suggesting revisions where necessary, and proposing new procedures where required.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or a relevant field.
- Must have valid driver's license and possesses own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Demonstrated excellent organizational, coordination and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and an ability to set priorities and maintain deadlines.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency in database and Microsoft Office Suite applications; willing to learn specialized software.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with research subjects and multidisciplinary health professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to be highly motivated and work effectively within the study team.
- This multi-site position requires working primarily in Trenton, NJ, with the ability to travel/report to New Brunswick, NJ as required.
- Additional travel to various locations throughout the state may be required.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Prior experience with cancer research and/or research experience in an academic medical center setting preferred.
- Prior experience with statistical software (e.g. SAS, SPSS), health/clinical background or bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.
