Mechanical Engineer II

Purpose:


  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need foran Mechanical Engineer II in Huntsville, AL or Alamogordo, NM.


Job Description:


  • Conducts and supports the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical and hardware products.
  • Has strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Conducts research and applies to assigned projects.
  • Participates in the development of trade studies, analysis of alternatives, and capability analysis.
  • Supports multiple engineering tasks simultaneously.
  • Collaborates continuously and participates in integrated product and technical teams.
  • Develops drawings associated with design and familiarization with configuration management principles.
  • Reviews technical documentation and specifications to ensure project requirements are accurate and are being met.
  • Understands system design principles and assists in the resolution of engineering and design problems.
  • Ability to interact professionally in a badgeless customer environment and embrace a highly motivated team environment.
  • Has excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Possesses the ability to prepare, deliver, and present technical reports, briefings, supporting data, and recommendations to team members, customer, and management.
  • Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in the allocation of additional resources.
  • Frequent contact with internal and external customers, team members, and management.



Qualifications


  • Must have BS in STEM and 5-10 years related experience. Advanced degrees may be considered for credit of additional experience to qualify for next level Labor Category per contract guidelines.
  • Must have mechanical and hardware design experience.
  • Must have CAD knowledge including engineering drawing development and dimensioning.
  • Must have MS Office Suite experience.
  • Must have the ability to conduct research and perform analysis on requirements, capability, and operational effects.
  • Must have a passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions.
  • Must have strong analytical and reasoning skills and ability to visualize processes and outcomes.
  • Must have outstanding all-round communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must have proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities. Must have strong customer service orientation.
  • Must have knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in development of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Must have knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, equipment, and tools to the design, manufacture, integration, and test of various hardware and services.


Desired Requirements


  • SolidWorks CAD, preferred.
  • Familiarization with hardware and electrical fabrication, integration, and sub-component and system testing, preferred.
  • Army programs (DEVCOM Aviation and Missile Center, Space and Missile Defense Command), preferred.
  • Familiarization with Army fixed and/or transportable rocket launcher and Tactical Operation Center command, control, and communication development, hardware and electrical integration, and operation preferred.


Security Requirements:


  • Must have an Active DoD Secret Security clearance, and the ability to maintain clearance.


Travel Requirements:


  • Less than 15%
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to work in an office, industrial, or shipboard environment.
  • Be able to lift and move materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one-man lift.
  • Must be able to perform site surveys and carry a laptop computer.

Pay Range: $100,000 - $135,000 per year
